In 2019, WBA published the In-Home Wi-Fi Industry Guidelines white paper, which identifies the gaps in current in-home Wi-Fi standards, highlights the need for intelligent network optimization and provides an industry go-to reference when preparing for ‘Smart Home’ deployments.

With the rise of Multi-AP Solutions and the concept of mesh networks, there is a growing demand for open interoperability in the IoT era. This project will define a set of test plans which will be collected from a group of operators’ live use cases, conducted in a real operating environment. This includes strong Wi-Fi coverage, good diagnostic information needed by operators for remote management, simple deployment per subscriber, etc.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Target Audience

Target Audience includes WBA members, IoT Players, In-Home solutions providers, Wi-Fi advocates, industry analysts, Wi-Fi operators, Cellular Operators, networking equipment providers.

Business objectives

  • Tackle the challenges that have contributed to inconsistent performance in home Wi-Fi, including a lack of uniform coverage and visibility into the in-home IoT Wi-Fi experience.

  • Help the operators gain more knowledge about the in-home transformation and increase client satisfaction through a higher quality experience.

Target Outcomes

  • Define operator use cases under various deployment environments including Community Wi-Fi, Private Wi-Fi and Guest Wi-Fi

  • Address the deployment challenges, home network security issues and define requirements with multi-AP solutions
