Leading operators and vendors among new members to join leading industry body helping drive development and deployment of next generation Wi-Fi
San Jose & Singapore – October 12, 2015 – The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the industry association focused on driving next generation Wi-Fi and its role in Public Wi-Fi services, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Converged Services, Smart Cities and 5G, today welcomed 18 new members, taking the number of new members in 2015 to over 40. The new members include; Bemol, BICS, Cibersys, Cirrent, Colony Networks, Docomo Pacific, Enforta, Mi-Fi Networks, Mitel, NetworkFX, Neustar, Openet, Panasonic, TeleWorld, VAST, Veniam, WIFIACTIVA and Zscaler, bringing the total WBA membership up to 125.
The new members continue to expand on the breadth of expertise of the WBA’s membership, which includes leading mobile and broadband network operators, service providers, technology providers and partners and media players from across the Americas, Europe & Asia Pacific. Existing members include companies such as AT&T, Boingo Wireless, BT, China Telecom, Cisco Systems, Comcast, Intel Corporation, Google, iPass, KT Corporation, NTT DOCOMO, Orange and Time Warner Cable. Collectively, WBA operator members serve more than 1 billion subscribers and operate more than 15 million hotspots globally.
The new members are joining existing members at the San Jose Wi-Fi Global Congress being held 12-15 October 2015 at the San Jose Convention Center to present and discuss the growth and innovation of Wi-Fi across new hardware, applications and services such as Smart Cities, Internet of Things and utilising Unlicensed Spectrum.
