The upcoming Wireless Global Congress in Orlando – taking place on 11 – 14 June, 2018 – will see dozens of speakers from all corners of the wireless ecosystem take the stage. One such speaker will be Bill McCorey of Universal Parks and Resorts. We sat down with Bill and asked him a few brief questions, and here’s what he had to say:
Can you introduce yourself, your role, and your company?
I am SVP and CIO for Universal Parks and Resorts world wide with parks and teams in Orlando, Hollywood, Osaka and one to open soon in Beijing.
What role does technology play in the guest experience at Universal Parks & Resorts?
Technology plays a critical role in the guest experience and we recently won a Digital Edge 50 award from CIO.com for our work in opening Volcano Bay the first fully virtual line theme park in the world last May.
What are the top 3 ‘must haves’ of Wi-Fi from a business or customer services point of view that are crucial for a theme park?
Wi-Fi is crucial for our guest and team members to support our mobile application that gives the guest park, attraction and wait time information. The mobile app is always being extended to deliver the best guest experience possible. We also use Wi-Fi to support our team members with a number of applications to help deliver guest experiences.
You are writing a book about teamwork – what are the key things that are essential to a good team and how does that play out at Universal?
My story is “Teamwork, a matter of life or death”. It speaks to my real world experience in Mountain Climbing and you can find more at www.yourropeteam.com. I have delivered over 100 keynote addresses with this story.
