Pioneering technology test is the latest evolution of international Wi-Fi
Tests of the first use of indoor Wi-Fi 6E technology in Latin America started in a unit of the Coco Bambu restaurant, located in Shopping Iguatemi Alphaville, in Barueri, metropolitan region of São Paulo. The project is spearheaded by Linktel, Cisco, WBA, Mega Telecom and Coco Bambu, benefiting Coco Bambu and Shopping Iguatemi Alphaville customers.
This is the first practical experience of Wi-Fi 6E in the 6GHz band in indoor area in Latin America. The connection can be accessed by two months, starting in May, in cooperation with the Coco Bambu restaurant. At the start of operations, a download speed of 2.4 Giga bps and an upload speed of 2.1 Gbps with latency of 2.65 ms. For the installation of this project, an authorization was granted by Anatel temporary use.
Mega Telecom participates in the project providing the broadband connection for the Internet, while Cisco offers WiFi 6E access points and implementation and operation were handled by Linktel. “We are being pioneers working on this project. It is a support of high frequencies technology, bringing an evolution to the Wi-Fi system comparable to 5G, with high standard transmission rates and latencies”, explains Jonas Trunk, CEO from Linktel WiFi.
For the user to connect to Wi-Fi 6E it is necessary to have smartphones compatible. “One of the difficulties of the Brazilian market is this bottleneck of not always have mobile data to support technologies of this type of connection”, emphasizes Trunk. Considered the best restaurant with seafood specialty on the TripAdvisor website, Coco Bambu perceived to be a pioneering initiative at a technological level.
