- How will you be participating in Carrier Wi-Fi Summit and why do you think it is important to do so?
The Carrier Wi-Fi Summit presents an excellent opportunity to interact with key players in the ecosystem. Things are moving fast in WI-Fi, and it’s becoming an increasingly essential element in many companies’ mobile data strategies. As old models are overturned and new opportunities emerge, the Summit is a natural place to both assess the state of the market and get a sense of where things are headed. - What do you expect to be the major themes at this year’s Carrier Wi-Fi Summit/MWC? And Why?
I anticipate several themes:- First, we’ll see a grounding around the true status of Carrier Wi-Fi. After a period of HS2.0 anticipation, which has bordered on hype, it’ll be good to see a correction in expectations around its impact and to get back to reality.
- I think we’ll also see that Wi-Fi is going to have multiple segments competing for some ownership – and not just within the operator community. Internet giants are getting involved, too.
- Lastly, I think we’ll see that a universe of business models competing for attention.
These themes are an inevitable part of the beauty of a fragmented resource with high ROI and a very low barrier to entry.
- What do you plan to get out of your participation in the event?
We hope to educate new partners and potential customers on the capability of our platform, which is after all, a somewhat unusual form of virtualized carrier Wi-Fi. And we want to emphasize the complementary nature of what we do. The Devicescape solution can be a key component in the strategies used by operators and others to harness the power of the Wi-Fi resources that already surround us. - How do you think members of the Wi-Fi ecosystem will benefit from participating in/attending the Carrier Wi-Fi Summit?
The Wi-Fi world has changed: technology, use cases, the companies involved, and the relationship of the end user to the technology. The Carrier Wi-Fi Summit is a conducive venue for bringing together the widest set of ecosystem players to see, discuss, debate, influence, and determine the direction of this highly dynamic space.
