Company to showcase their new Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint™ R2 OSU Solution at the Wireless Broadband Alliance’s Wi-Fi Global Congress

London – 20 May, 2015 – Global Reach Technology (www.globalreachtech.com), a leading developer of advanced, carrier class Wi-Fi software, announced its next step in HotSpot 2.0 technology – the Online Sign Up or “OSU” solution now built into its Odyssys platform to seamlessly and securely certify and provision mobile devices on a Wi-Fi network.

The Passpoint solution was launched by the Wi-Fi Alliance® in 2012 to streamline user access to multiple Wi-Fi networks operated by MNO’s and other carriers wishing to give their customers a more “cellular-like” experience when connecting to Wi-Fi networks; in this way Passpoint also facilitates data offloading, roaming and other services.

Global Reach immediately set about integrating the first release of Passpoint into its Odyssys network management solution, and the company has already deployed large scale municipal networks using Passpoint in San Jose and San Francisco, California. Odyssys can now provide any operator or service provider network with their own OSU Server, linked to an AAA Server, and access to a certificate authority (CA) and so Odyssys, Global Reach’s Carrier Grade AAA solution, now supports Release 2 OSU Specification.

As a member of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), Global Reach will be demonstrating its Odyssys software with the Passpoint OSU solution at this year’s WBA Wi-Fi Global Congress, to be held in London’s Tower Hotel from 18-21 May. Private demonstrations can also be arranged at the Global Reach offices in Holborn, London. The company is also offering 90-DAY FREE TRIAL accounts to carriers wishing to demo the Odyssys solution.

“The Wi-Fi Global Congress event sees the ecosystem meet in London to discuss how the technology has evolved beyond all recognition. Wi-Fi is now being used for everything from voice calls to location services while at the same time becoming a critical piece to optimize the Radio Access Networks of mobile operators and the base wireless infrastructure for the development smart cities and IoT services.” said Tiago Rodrigues, Program Director, Wireless Broadband Alliance. “The NGH Live Experience in London is the result of hard work by the Wireless Broadband Alliance and its members from across the value chain. We are delighted to be working with partners such as Global Reach to showcase these capabilities.”

Nigel Wesley, CEO of Global Reach, explained the current state of the technology in real terms. “HotSpot 2.0 is not just a concept anymore,” he stated, “our Passpoint and OSU deployments in California and elsewhere prove that this technology is not just possible, but practical and affordable, and we are already working with our carrier clients to expand HotSpot 2.0 networks globally.”
