Those visiting Japan during Korean thanks giving day and business travellers may be able to take advantage of the world’s first commercial Wi-Fi auto roaming service between Korea and Japan and use it for free if they selected for the ‘Wi-Fi auto roaming customer group’ on the 16 of September 2013. KT Chairman, Lee Suk-Chae announced that this would be the World-first Wi-Fi auto roaming service between Korea and Japan.
The world’s first commercially successful Wi-Fi roaming service is provided in cooperation with NTT DOCOMO, INC., a leading Japanese mobile operator, and provides a way to use the Japanese local Wi-Fi network more conveniently with just one click instead of existing ID/PW authentication process.
KT subscribers traveling abroad will be able to use this service to get directions and search for travel information more quickly and conveniently.
This Wi-Fi auto roaming service with Japan has a symbolic meaning as the world’s first cross-country Wi-Fi roaming service and also demonstrates KT’s plans to expand Wi-Fi Auto roaming to other countries gradually based on the partnership.
KT will officially launch Wi-Fi this service early next year and will recruit 4,000 people for the ‘Wi-Fi Auto Roaming customer group’ open until 31st December 2013 through this site: www.olleh.com.
The appointed 4,000 individuals in the customer group who will have access to the free Wi-Fi auto roaming service will be provided with a user guide and be informed of the information on the Wi-Fi coverage available. Wi-Fi KT will also give a prize through a lottery process for subscribers who have left a customer review and image for promoting the Wi-Fi service.
In this year, under the support by NTT DOCOMO – the leading mobile operator in Japan, the coverage will be enlarged with coverage of Japan with approximately 30,000 hotspots covering major Japanese convince stores such as Seven Eleven, Family Mart, Lawson.
