The exclusive service will be available for customers in late 2015

SÃO PAULO – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Brazilian operator Linktel will install and operate, on an exclusive basis, Wi-Fi in 60 Brazilian airports, following the approval of airport operator Infraero. The project will require investments of US $10 million. The deployment of the service will begin this November and complete in late 2015, with 11 of the largest airports expected to implement the service by the end of this coming March.

More than 114 million users will benefit from the service with free high speed access to streaming video and photos in HD, streaming files and other documents, in addition to quick access to the internet. The hotspots in Brazilian airports will be prepared for 3G/4G offload, in order to ensure the mobile operators the deviation of data traffic through Linktel infrastructure and ensure better delivery of data services to their customers.

The technology used by Linktel is compatible with the new generation of hotspots 2.0, NGH2.0, launched in October in San Francisco during an event organized by WBA – Wireless Broadband Alliance, where Linktel was the only operator from Latin America taking part in the event and trial.
