China Mobile, Cisco and WBA partner to create first ever live NGH Experience @ Wi-Fi Global Congress Beijing.

We are proud to announce the launch of the live NGH Experience during the Wi-Fi Global Congress (WGC) in Beijing, China (18 – 21 Nov) with partners China Mobile as host operator and Cisco as network infrastructure provider. This will be the FIRST EVER live deployment of a next generation Wi-Fi network at an international conference, offering attendees a real-life experience of seamlessly and automatically connecting to the venue Wi-Fi.

It will feature live NGH based Wi-Fi access for users and a number of different demonstrations, aimed to provide a full ‘end-to-end, real-life’ NGH experience for end-users, including:

  • a fully deployed NGH network at the host venue, provided by Cisco
  • availability of Passpoint-ready devices to demonstrate and experience seamless and secure access, including sponsored devices for VIPs, analysts and media partners
  • full roaming capabilities with a number of participating WBA member operators through our host operator China Mobile
  • network access for all conference attendees, including support for legacy devices.

NGH Showcase @ WGC Beijing
As part of the overall NGH experience, the NGH Showcase offers exhibitors the opportunity to provide live demonstrations of their NGH-capable devices, services and applications using the installed NGH network in the venue.

Vendors (e.g. device, application and OTT service providers) will be provided access1 to the installed network for their demonstrations.

Participation
Together with the event partner, Avren, WBA will reach out to the WBA membership (and beyond) to maximize the impact of this demonstration by:

  • Implementation and marketing of roaming support between China Mobile and various WBA members for duration of the congress
  • Marketing of the overall Experience outside the WBA membership to create awareness of the NGH Experience, its objectives, demonstrations and partners
  • Marketing of demonstration & exhibition opportunities for 3rd parties, with a main focus on device manufacturers, network infrastructure vendors and 3rd party service/application providers
