“Attending the WBA was helpful in validating new business models for WiFi – listening to how Global Service Providers are looking at the Market and how they are actually currently deploying” – Cisco
It’s been a month since we had our Wi-Fi Global Congress, the 21st WBA Roundtable, in Seoul with our co-host, Korea Telecom.
And with a new name for the Event and an exciting location, our growth continued as we hosted over 200 Industry leaders from all parts of the Wi-Fi ecosystem from more than 30 different countries boasting a record increase of over 100 member and non-member attendees from last year’s roundtable in Singapore!
Collaborative presentations and discussions were held on future Wi-Fi developments and emerging strategies most notably Wi-Fi Roaming and Next Generation Hotspot (NGH), as well as monetizing Wi-Fi and data offload.
With the increased attendance and excitement in the conference rooms, there was no mistake that Wi-Fi is increasingly being recognized as an essential part of a modern heterogeneous network.
Some of the presentations were especially unique in their depth and overview of the incredible growth happening in Asia, in particular KT’s talk on their strategic direction in the Mobile Business Group, China Telecom’s presentation on their Wi-Fi deployment strategy and PCCW’s presentation on how to design and deploy a Carrier Grade Wi-Fi Network. Google also opened up Day 2 speaking about their experiences with Wi-Fi in emerging markets.
In addition to our general Sessions we introduced some new ones that proved equally engaging for existing and new attendees, most notable and anticipated a discussion with Wi-Fi Alliance, GSMA and us about how Next Generation Wi-Fi will impact and improve user experience, and a Wi-Fi Alliance seminar with technical insight into the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint certification program.
The Wi-Fi Global Congress allows attendees from various parts of the Wi-Fi ecosystem to come together at multiple levels; industry, technology and business development. As a global event, The WBA Wi-Fi Global Congress is now solidly established as the place to be for harnessing the Wi-Fi opportunities. “My highlights were the working sessions for the NGH Trial and the Roaming Enhancements work streams” – Comcast
If you missed the event then you don’t have long to wait. The next WBA Wi-Fi Global Congress will be held on the 5th – 8th November 2012 at the Gran Hyatt Hotel, San Francisco. For more information on how to get involved, follow the link at www.wifiglobalcongress.com
