This week, the WBA not only welcomed its members to its second working session of 2014 in Tokyo, but also announced the winners of its Members Recognition Awards. These awards have been designed to reward those who have made significant contributions to WBA projects over the past 12 months. The three categories are:

  1. Leadership award (for Workgroup Chairs or Co-Chair)
  2. Project Leadership awards (for project leads)
  3. Contributor award (open to all members that did an outstanding contribution)

The winners consisted of 24 individuals from a broad spectrum of organizations (operators, vendors etc.) from around the world, reinforcing the WBA’s mantra of uniting the global mobile ecosystem. Through the significant efforts of these winners, the WBA has been able to drive progress with a variety of initiatives that will all help to improve the quality of Carrier Wi-Fi for end users worldwide.

Nigel Bird from Orange who was awarded the Leadership Award A special mention has to go to Nigel Bird from Orange who was awarded the Leadership Award for a Workgroup Chair or Co-Chair. Nigel, Chair of the WBA’s Business Work Group, received this accolade due to his crucial leadership roles on both the Carrier Wi-Fi project and joint taskforce with GSMA, as well as providing essential support on the Carrier Wi-Fi Operator Guidelines (IPV6) and the Wi-Fi Access Infrastructure Management (WAIM) projects.

We would like to congratulate all the winners (pictured below) and look forward to working with our members to further drive WBA projects over the coming 12 months.
