2013 has been a remarkable year for WBA’s Programs & Projects with consistent growth in member participation and over 110 meetings held so far. The level and pace of this activity led to the identification of additional projects within the WBA activities, specifically three new topics were identified in London:

  • Carrier Wi-Fi
  • Device Compliancy Testing
  • Location Based Services

The WBA team will start addressing these topics soon and specific working groups will be set up.

Latest updates on WBA Programs & Projects:

  • The official Interoperability Compliancy Program (ICP) was released with the participation of 13 members with the first 8 companies reaching compliancy. For further engagement with ICP please visit: https://wballiance.com/wba-initiatives/interoperability-compliance/
  • The joint Taskforce with CableLabs has concluded. The team carried out a substantial amount of work aligning the CableLabs and WBA roaming frameworks in areas like AAA server Radius Attributes and HS location. A set of recommendations for both organizations have resulted from this initiative.
  • The joint Taskforce between GSMA and WBA is reaching its end for now, and whitepapers on “Seamless Mobility (with IP preservation) and Signalling Optimization” will be released soon:
  • The joint Whitepaper with Small Cell Forum is still open for enrolment and every member is invited to join. The team is now finalizing the proposed structure of the document and allocating contributors to each section (Link for enrolment: http://extranet.wballiance.com/apps/org/workgroup/wbascfjtf/)
  • The WBA Roaming Framework, consisting of WRIX (i, d & f, L), has recently gone through a change request process that was approved by the membership. Therefore the new versions of WRIX-i and WRIX-L are now available on the WBA website > Specifications & guidelines
