TRENDS AND OPPORTUNITIES

Wi-Fi HaLow, based on the IEEE 802.11ah standard, operates in the sub-GHz spectrum (902 MHz–926 MHz), and offers long-range, low-power connectivity ideal for IoT applications such as smart homes, agriculture, and industrial settings. It supports extended ranges of up to 1 kilometer and enables energy-efficient device communication with narrow channels.

With an estimated 30 billion IoT devices expected by 2025, Wi-Fi HaLow is well-positioned to handle the increasing demand for reliable, scalable network solutions. While it excels indoors, particularly in smart homes, its full potential in outdoor settings like smart metering and environmental monitoring is still being explored​

  • Building on the use cases from Phase 1, and phase 2 with Wi-Fi HaLow for IoT: Field Trials Report for Americas, Phase 3 focuses on outcomes from designated test scenarios for Wi-Fi HaLow across key vertical markets in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
  • Test Beds and Trial Cases: The phase begins with the establishment of vertical test beds and trial cases, aiming to showcase the optimal technical usage and implementation of Wi-Fi HaLow technology.
  • Analysis and Outcomes: A thorough analysis of the test results will follow, highlighting key findings and performance insights from the trials to evaluate Wi-Fi HaLow’s potential in various industries and regions.
