Wi-Fi Global Congress, London – June 14th, 2013 – The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the industry association focused on driving the next generation Wi-Fi experience, today announced that the Wi-Fi Industry Awards 2013 are now open for entries. The awards will recognize outstanding achievement by operators, vendors and device manufacturers within the industry. They will be presented at a gala awards dinner and networking event at the Wi-Fi Global Congress in Beijing on the 20th November 2013.

The awards are open to the whole industry and attract entries from vendors and operators from across the world encompassing the whole public Wi-Fi ecosystem. They will be judged independently of the WBA by a panel of highly distinguished analysts and industry experts including: Caroline Gabriel (Maravedis-Rethink), Daryl Schoolar (Ovum), Guang Yang (Strategy Analytics), Joe Madden (Mobile Experts), Ken Rehbehn (Yankee Group) and Peter Jarich (Current Analysis).

Since last year’s ceremony, two new categories have been added. The Best Next Generation Wi-Fi Device/Applications Award will recognize consumer device innovations that make it easier for users to take advantage of public Wi-Fi and Next Generation Hotspot (NGH) technology on their handsets or that enables service providers to deliver new and improved services. The Best New Venture Award will celebrate the achievements being made by the smaller organizations that have the potential to significantly impact the use of Wi-Fi in terms of new services, technologies and business models.
