Decentralised identity is an emerging concept that gives back control of identity to consumers through the use of an identity wallet in which they collect verified information about themselves from certified issuers (such as the Government).
Operators are well placed to support and play a role in the operation of a commercial decentralized identity framework to protect user privacy with the decentralized wireless network.

This project engages decentralized identifiers (DID), verifiable credentials (VC), blockchain technologies, etc., to enable a decentralized OpenRoaming™ network to support the operators and service providers to further protect customers’ privacy and ha under the One Global Wi-Fi Network in OpenRoaming federation, so as to generate better consumers loyalty and the revenue growth for all ecosystem participants.
Expected Deliverables
- Provide technical framework about Wi-Fi-based Decentralized Wireless Networks with DID and blockchain technology stack that can be incorporated into OpenRoaming Release 4 /5.
- Establish a global test plan which could interoperate with existing OpenRoaming networks with use cases.
