Operator Managed Wi-Fi (OMWi)
Kickoff Compliance Testing – 13 October, 14:00pm

  • Official kickoff of WBA’s Operator Managed Wi-Fi compliance testing.
  • Compliance testing will dictate automatically and through self-testing whether a gateway & extender are compliant with OMWi functionalities.
  • Initial part of scripts – 3 cases – are ready and will be tested and promoted in Paris, namely:
    • TC1 – Verify configuration of SSID, Password & Security for Wi-Fi Fronthaul interface
    • TC2 – Verify configuration of SSID, Password & Security for Wi-Fi Backhaul interface
    • TC3 – Verify metric collection

Roaming Work Group – RADIUS Proxy Issues
Technical Workshop – 13 October, 17:15pm

    • Builds on discussions from the RADIUS Conference (March 2025).
  • Focused on key issues identified with RADIUS proxy.
  • Aims to analyze root causes, capture implementation feedback, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Workshop led by: InkBridge Networks with support from Roaming WG Chairs – AT&T, Boldyn Networks, and Single Digits

Next Gen Work Group – Wi-Fi 8
Workshop + WGC Speaker Preview – 14 October, 11:20am

  • Early discussions on Wi-Fi 8 technology evolution, use cases, and spectrum needs.
  • Define WBA’s strategic role in driving the next generation of Wi-Fi.
  • Feature Broadcom as a potential speaker at the upcoming Wireless Global Congress (WGC).
  • Explore potential engagement with regulators and industry leaders on spectrum policy and standardization.
  • Begin building momentum and awareness for Wi-Fi 8 within the WBA community.

Access Network Metrics – Real-Time QoS Decision-Making

Demo | Intelligent IDP Decisions Based on Network Metrics – 14 October, 15:00pm

  • Demonstrates how the IDP ensures users only connect to Passpoint networks that meet quality thresholds, using real-time performance metrics.
  • Key use case: a user with a Passpoint profile attempts to connect based on signal strength; an access request including metrics (via the Connect-Info attribute in RADIUS) is sent to the IDP/operator.
  • The operator’s AAA evaluates the metrics: if performance is below the minimum requirement, the connection is declined to protect the user experience.
  • When network metrics such as RSSI are stronger, authentication is approved, ensuring users connect to high-quality Wi-Fi.
  • The video demo will showcase this transformative solution that gives operators visibility and control, building trust in Wi-Fi and strengthening roaming/offload strategies..
