Heathrow Airport will be launching free WiFi for passengers from Saturday 1st June across all of its five terminals.
The service will offer uncharged online access for all devices compatible with WiFi, for 45 minutes per calendar day. Once the user reaches 45 minutes they will be allowed to select from a range of pay-as-you-go options if they wish to continue browsing.
However, those passengers with Heathrow rewards cards will be allowed 90 minutes’ free browsing time before having to pay, jaunted.com reports.
Despite being the world’s busiest and most popular airport in the world, London Heathrow has been slow on the take up of Wi-Fi when compared with other international airports. Previously the only way to gain mobile access to the web was to use Wi-Fi in one of the airline lounges, or through Boingo’s paid service.
The new Wi-Fi installation will come as a welcome addition for those who travel frequently and holiday goers alike.
Last month, Qatar airways announced that it’s A350s and A380s will offer a mobile phone and WiFi signal, buyingbusinesstravel.com reports. When this instalment is complete the carrier will be able to offer connectivity on board 150 aircraft, as it already provides the service on its A320s and B787s.
