A free Wi-Fi service has been rolled out to every public library in Northamptonshire, England – meaning 36 centres now provide the service.
According to bbc.co.uk, any one can log onto the service, as users don’t have to own a library card in order to use the Wi-Fi.
The network is unlimited too and customers can log on to check emails, apply for jobs or check their social media accounts using their own devices.
In addition to the 36 libraries, free Wi-Fi is also now available at the Record Office in Northampton and Brixworth Country Park, northhantstelegraph.co.uk reports.
Councillor Heather Smith, deputy leader and cabinet member for customers and communities, said the new network had already had a big impact on customers.
“Wi-Fi is part of the modern world and it’s something that people expect to be able to access in as many places as possible and it is particularly useful during job clubs, Enterprise Hubs events and other careers and business start-up activities,” she said.
She added that the Wi-Fi will help customers learn more about their own devices, as well as help them keep in contact with the rest of their community.
The project cost £65,500 and was funded by the Empowering Councillor scheme, which saw donations from council members.
