More than a third of the world’s population now uses the mobile web on a daily basis, according to new research.
Figures gathered by the Future Foundation earlier this week have also suggested that more than half of the world logs on to the mobile internet at least once a week.
The figures represent a sensational growth of this market over the last couple of years. According to marketingmagazine.co.uk, 33 per cent of people use the mobile web to play games, whilst more than one in six use it to buy products.
It was reported that the amount of social media users sharing content via mobile has increased by 158 per cent in the last three years. Interestingly though, just 15 per cent of mobile web users have accessed content by scanning a QR code.
With these figures in mind, it’s perhaps no surprise that the amount of cash spent on mobile web advertising is going through the roof.
A separate study, conducted by the Advertising Association, found that UK advertisers have increased their mobile spent by 128 per cent in the last year. According to marketingweek.co.uk, that’s an eight times bigger increase than for any other type of advertising platform.
