In 2012, the WBA unveiled its Interoperability Compliance Program (ICP), an initiative created to streamline the way its members work together on a common set of technical and commercial frameworks for Wi-Fi roaming.
ICP promotes and advocates the adoption of a common set of requirements and procedures for Wi-Fi roaming making it easier for operators both to understand how to integrate their networks to support roaming and to enter into national and international roaming agreements. It encourages them to go that extra mile to expedite interoperability and enable consumers worldwide to benefit from a far superior connectivity experience.
Some of the biggest names in the Wi-Fi ecosystem such as AT&T, Boingo Wireless, BT, NTT DOCOMO, Shaw Communications, Portugal Telecom, Towerstream and True Corporation have worked together to self-assess their own networks in order to align technical and commercial features. To date, 17 global operators have achieved compliancy level.
The WBA is very pleased to announce that the following members have also achieved compliancy level:
- Fon
- Linktel
- Meteor Networks
- PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia
We would like to congratulate these organizations on this achievement that will help to promote and enhance compliancy and roaming capabilities in the community.
