ANZ Stadium, also known as Stadium Australia, is planning to supply Wi-Fi access to its customers in March next year.

According to cnet.com, Telstra will provide high-speed internet access to the stadium for the next five years, allowing sports fans to watch videos and check their social media profiles whilst watching the game.

Providing internet access directly from the stadium can be hugely beneficial to customers, as mobile networks usually become jammed during big sports games, due to the number of people trying to access the service at once. The ANZ Stadium Wi-Fi service aims to tackle this problem by providing a fast and reliable connection.

Managing director of ANZ Stadium, Daryl Kerry, explained what the first stage of the rollout would involve: “We’re excited to provide a multitude of media delivery options and ways for our fans to get the most out of the events at the stadium,” he said. “The first stage of the rollout will connect sponsor content to Wi-Fi devices throughout the stadium, allowing information, announcements and video content to be displayed to fans.”

In the future, the stadium aims to give visitors travel information via the Wi-Fi service, so that their journeys home are made a little bit easier, reports computerworld.com.au.
