British broadcaster Sky has released two brand new Wi-Fi enabled PVR units for its TV service subscribers.

The boxes allow subscribers to connect to Sky’s cloud-based TV-on-demand service with exceptional speed.

It has allowed Sky to give its customers access to the UK’s biggest TV-on-demand service. The company has announced that this service will be growing substantially in the near future as well.

It might only be a matter of time until all digital TV boxes across the globe offer Wi-Fi capability similar to this. In an interview with digitalspy.co.uk, Sky director Luke-Bradley Jones said that the new box was already proving exceptionally popular.  

He added: “Record levels of on-demand viewing show that Sky customers love the flexibility the service offers. When people connect their Sky+HD box to broadband, they get instant access to the UK’s biggest Catch Up TV service and an extensive on-demand library of TV box sets and exclusive movies – and we’re seeing a growing demand.”

According thenextweb.com, new Sky customers get their Wi-Fi enabled box free with certain TV packages. Those who are already subscribed to Sky’s service may be able to apply for a free connector so that they can also enjoy on-demand TV.
