Turkish Airlines passengers will be able to access the internet on the sky with TTNET Wifi Fly as from April.

A partnership agreement was concluded yesterday between Turkish Airlines and TTNET in a ceremony hosted by Turkish Airlines at Turkish Airlines’ Headquarters with the participations of Chairman of the Board at Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) Tayfun Acarer, Turkish Airlines’ General Manager Assoc. Prof. Temel Kotil and TTNET’ General Manager Abdullah Orkun Kaya. TTNET became the internet service provider for WiFi services on Turkish Airlines’ fleet (on the aircrafts equipped with internet access) and a brand partner of Turkish Airlines with this agreement.

WiFi internet service, already offered in 12 Boeing 777-300 ER aircrafts, equipped with wireless web infrastructure and used in international flights will now be provided by TTNET as of April. By the end of 2017, the target is to connect passengers to the internet with “TTNET WiFi Fly” at 62 wide-body aircrafts including new wide-body aircrafts that will be delivered to Turkish Airlines’ fleet by Boeing and Airbus. In addition to the WiFi service provided by TTNET on the aircrafts that already have the internet infrastructure, the agreement includes a comprehensive brand partnership. And according to this agreement TTNET’s advertorial and promotional contents will take place on the Planet, the in-flight entertainment system of Turkish Airlines.

Beginning from coming April, the WiFi service will initially be provided by TTNET on our 12 Boeing 777-300 ER aircrafts that already have the internet infrastructure and then will be available at the new wide-body aircrafts that will be added to our fleet in the near future. Additionally, we are happy to conclude a comprehensive brand partnership with TTNET.” said Turkish Airlines’ General Manager Assoc. Prof. Temel Kotil.

TTNET’ General Manager Abdullah Orkun Kaya made a short review of 2013 in his speech and said that they reached all their targets set out in 2013 and completed a year full of innovations with a perfect performance. Having emphasized that WiFi service has an important position among the value added services, he continued his words saying; “As the leader internet company of Turkey, we work to provide internet access everywhere. We provide internet service to TTNET members via approximately 6 thousand WiFi hotpots. We provide WiFi access to our subscribers in 132 countries over 1.4 million hotspots. We provide TTNET WiFi service at İDO İstanbul ferries and İETT buses. At 37 airports in Turkey, the passengers can connect to the internet with TTNET WiFi service”.
