Seamless Wi-Fi discovery and authentication features are becoming vital for the majority of European consumers, according to new poll.
In a poll conducted by the Wi-Fi Alliance, 74 per cent of respondents said they would be willing to switch providers in order to gain access to these features, whilst 91 per cent said they would be more likely to be loyal to their a provider who offered them.
Reacting to these figures, Wi-Fi Alliance head Edward Figueroa claimed that there was technology on the horizon that will make these features more readily available.
He told techweekeurope.co.uk: “If you get Wi-Fi bundled, the headache of remembering myriad passwords will go, as it is set up invisibly and automatically. We are relying on operators to react to the demand for this kind of solution.”
More than 2,000 mobile web device users from France, Germany, Sweden and the UK were questioned in the survey.
According to telecoms.com, the results showed that these demographics were almost as likely to connect tablets to a Wi-Fi network as they were to connect a smartphone. More than a third of those questioned said they connected their tablets to public Wi-Fi networks, whilst 57 per cent said they expected to do so within the next three years.
