Technology cuts the effort, time and cost of large-scale Wi-Fi service deployment.

LONDON, 27 January 2021 – Wi-Fi software and services company GlobalReach Technology, has been awarded a patent by the UK Patent Office for its captive portal aggregation service (PAS), a service that reduces the time and effort needed to configure or reconfigure, large-scale Wi-Fi services.

The expense and effort of configuring and maintaining a customer Wi-Fi estate can stop some service providers from scaling their Wi-Fi networks. By using a single HTTP and AAA endpoint to set up masses of Wi-Fi access points in the same way, GlobalReach PAS makes it easier and more cost-effective to support high volumes of customer equipment, and in turn, to more quickly deploy new services.

Combined with the GlobalReach APIs, service providers can now streamline the rollout of new guest Wi-Fi services by creating the resources that their customers need to edit their captive portal, set up their own Wi-Fi experience, and use their access points out of the box.

Using pre-configured Wi-Fi equipment also reduces the overhead of configuring each access point, slashing the resources and effort needed to support multiple, and sometimes concurrent, Wi-Fi services for different conferences, events, or brands.

Introduced to the market in 2020 and now a feature of the GlobalReach Wi-Fi management platform, PAS is already used by a large European operator to better support its enterprise customers.   Designed to support API integration, PAS makes it possible to dynamically reconfigure Wi-Fi equipment for service providers that are using wireless access gateways (WAGS) for a limited number of virtual interfaces.

The PAS patent is formally registered with the UK Patent Office.
