Goals is looking to encourage the use of mobile devices at its soccer centres by partnering up with BT.

The company has noticed a trend in five and seven-a-side players biding the time between sessions with a browse on their smartphone or tablet.

In order to cater for those wishing to use their mobile devices in the lead up or aftermath of their fixtures, the company has teamed up with BT to bring a speedy Wi-Fi connection to 43 of its soccer centres.

According to scotsman.com, players will be able to get online in “one click” once the service starts to roll out in facilities from April.

Part of the idea for this is to allow Goals’ 130,000 weekly players to check how their favourite professional team is getting on.

Lse.co.uk says no financial details of the agreement have been announced and it’s not known whether customers will have to pay for access. However, given that Goals has stressed how easy it is for people to get online, the latter would seem unlikely.

In addition to this, players will also be able to gain inspiration from the greats of the game by watching BT Sport on big screens across all of the Wi-Fi-connected venues.

This now includes coverage from European, English and Scottish matches following BT’s charge into the subscription sports market.
