CES 2023, the most influential technology event in the world, took place on January 5-8 in Las Vegas, and by all accounts it was a very successful and exciting event. Intel, a Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) Board company, was in attendance at CES and unveiled some exciting new products that promise to make a major splash, particularly around how consumers’ laptops connect to Wi-Fi via Intel’s Evo™ processor, as well as some exciting VR gaming over Wi-Fi news.

Firstly, the latest iteration of the Intel Evo™ processor enables some convenient features for laptops, including the Advanced Connection Manager (ACM), which distributes applications, combines connection speeds, and/or switches to the best connection type available across 5G, Wi-Fi and Ethernet. In addition, Intel also introduced its new proximity sensing feature, which enables Wi-Fi to sense when it should lock your laptop and put it to sleep, as well as when to wake it up again. See the image below for a better idea of how this exciting feature works.

In addition, Intel announced an update to its Double Connect Technology (DCT), which was initially unveiled at CES 2022 and allows for two simultaneous Wi-Fi connections to and from the same PC. The latest version enables the Meta Quest VR headset to connect directly to a PC over Wi-Fi, while the PC remains connected to the router. Essentially, this eliminates the need for the VR headset to connect to the router before connecting to the laptop, resulting in up to 20% lower latency. Watch the video below to learn more.
