The Wireless Broadband Alliance is comprised of members who have come together to achieve a common goal: delivering an outstanding user experience thought next-generation Wi-Fi. We’re very proud to introduce you to these members, and give you a glimpse into their role within the WBA and the Wi-Fi ecosystem.

This week, we’re profiling Mimosa – LeRoy Fitzgerald, VP of Business Development and Strategic Sales, took the time to answer a few questions:

Tell us about Mimosa, and its role within the Wi-Fi ecosystem.

Today’s wireless market is quickly evolving as service providers seek increased capacity and throughput for their subscribers. Unfortunately, a number of unique challenges are emerging that range from managing operational costs to determining effective methods to leverage new and existing technologies. This is where Mimosa can help. By building on exclusive relationships for high volume Wi-Fi silicon and network processors, Mimosa enables next generation ecosystems focused on cost effective, high performance platforms supporting fixed wireless access (FWA) deployments.

What do you see as being the hot topics in Wi-Fi over the next 12 months?

Mimosa believes Wi-Fi technology development over the next 12-18 months will focus on increased capacity solutions that support seamless management of subscribers on standalone and networked access points. These developments will support a variety of technologies including HotSpot 2.0, improved capacity via technology innovations such as 8×8 MU-MIMO, spectrum re-use, colocation and synchronization of access devices, and improved cloud based controller functions driving broader deployment of Wi-Fi services.

Why has being a member of the WBA been beneficial to Mimosa?

Membership within the WBA has enabled Mimosa access to key industry influencers, technology peers, and customers while providing us a forum to present our next generation wireless platforms to customers, technology partners, and industry professionals.

Why would you recommend becoming a WBA member to other companies?

The WBA provides a broad access to service providers allowing a company to present and obtain feedback on new products, technologies, and market strategies. The WBA also provides an environment, via its various working groups and forums, where a company can guide, influence, and learn about the many standards and trends driving todays wireless markets.
