The Wireless Broadband Alliance is comprised of members who have come together to achieve a common goal: delivering an outstanding user experience thought next-generation Wi-Fi. We’re very proud to introduce you to these members, and give you a glimpse into their role within the WBA and the Wi-Fi ecosystem.
This week, we’re profiling Mitel Mobility – Jim Hudmon, Chief Technologist and Strategy – MSO Market, took the time to answer a few questions:
Tell us about Mitel Mobility, and its role within the Wi-Fi ecosystem.
Mitel Mobility develops virtualization software for the wireless and cable telecommunications markets. Our platforms and applications enable voice and messaging communications across Wi-Fi and LTE networks for wireless and cable operator services to consumers and enterprises.
What do you see as being the hot topics in Wi-Fi over the next 12 months?
From our perspective, allowing operators to provide voice and messaging communications over Wi-Fi to any wireless internet connected devices is the number one topic that weÕre helping and leading the market in addressing this potential. We truly think that this will be a major emphasis of focus over the next 12 months and beyond, especially for broadband operators.
Why has being a member of the WBA been beneficial to Mitel, and why would you recommend becoming a member to other companies?
We were actually introduced to the WBA by CableLabs – they showed us several technical resources that are available through membership and that had been very helpful to them. They felt we could provide thought leadership in the areas of voice and messaging services.
Becoming a member gives Mitel the opportunity to contribute resources of our own through White Papers, and also allows us to attend key events throughout the year. It also opens up a wealth of networking opportunities between members, and opens up new avenues of partnerships for Mitel and others.
