- Create a WiFi connection QR code on the TV screen… Applied to customers using UHD2 /3/4/soundbar black set-top
- ‘Giga Wi-Fi 6’ has ‘EasyMesh R2′ updated with improved handover and router connection functions
LG U+ has announced on the January 25th that it applied the QR code Wi-Fi access function to U+tv for the first time in the industry. ‘QR code Wi-Fi connection function’ is a function that allows you to automatically connect to home Wi-Fi by taking a picture of the QR code on the U+tv screen that is connected to the identification value (SSID) and password of the Wi-Fi router with a smartphone or tablet PC camera. Until now, in order to connect to Wi-Fi with a smartphone at home, you had to check and enter the identification value and password attached to the outside of the router. LG Uplus explained that it developed a QR code Wi-Fi connection function to improve customer complaints that it is cumbersome to connect to Wi-Fi in a situation where the number of households installing routers behind wall-mounted TVs is gradually increasing. Customers using UHD2/3/4 or Soundbar Black Set Top and U+ Internet Wi-Fi 6 router can use the QR code Wi-Fi connection function in the “View Wi-Fi Information” menu by pressing the “Option” button on the remote control. LG U+ plans to support Wi-Fi 5 (old AP model) routers with remote software updates for service support within the first half of this year.
Along with this, LG U+ applied EasyMesh R2 (EasyMesh Release 2), which expands the coverage of Wi-Fi service in the home using multiple routers, to the ‘Giga Wi-Fi 6’ router.
EasyMesh R2 is a standard network management and control certification technology that provides the experience of using multiple routers as one and expands wireless coverage in the home. It provides smooth handover to ensure stable wireless performance even when multiple wireless terminals are connected, and a function to relocate terminals so that the load is not concentrated due to the concentration of connections to one router. EasyMesh standard technology of WFA (WiFi Alliance) is applied to our high-speed Internet service, making it compatible and synchronized with routers that support the same standard.
Song Dae-won, head of LG U+ Home Service Development Lab (Director), said, “We are continuously developing functions such as QR code connection to reduce customer inconvenience for home Wi-Fi and improve service quality.” “LG U+ is a global wireless operator. By joining the WBA (Wireless Broadband Alliance), we are reflecting the latest Wi-Fi technology trends and strengthening collaboration with global experts, and we will continue to make efforts to create a seamless environment anywhere in the house.”
