Some 80 per cent of business travellers prefer to use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data when they’re working outside of the office, a new survey from iPass reveals.
According to betanews.com, the average business traveller carries three mobile devices with them on a journey. Although they prefer to connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot, some aren’t entirely happy with the service they receive. Around 36 per cent don’t completely trust the security of the network and 32 per cent hate intrusive adverts.
The payment process isn’t easy either. Almost two-thirds (63 per cent) think credit card options are overpriced and 27 per cent dislike having to enter the same card details in time and time again.
In response, iPass is launching cloud-based Business Traveler Service 2.0. This new service will allow people to connect to more than 2.7 million Wi-Fi hotspots across the world using a single login – making the process much easier, as well as more secure.
Evan L Kaplan, president and CEO of iPass, says the service can even alert users to any security risks.
“Business travellers are especially reliant on Wi-Fi, but they are also increasingly frustrated by the hoops they must leap through to navigate a complex and challenging Wi-Fi ecosystem that can include advertising, logins and payments with each session, frequent timeouts and unpredictable and expensive fees,” he explains.
