Residents and visitors in Camps Bay in Cape Town, South Africa, will be able to access a new Wi-Fi service which allows them to use 100MB worth of data for free every day.

According to mybroadband.co.za, the installation is made up from a combination of fibre from ISP MacroLan and high density outdoor access points from Ruckus Wireless. The high quality service, provided by Skyrove, should mean the connection is fast and reliable.

Tourists and residents that require additional data can purchase more and advertisers will be able to buy ad space on the service’s landing page, reports humanipo.com.

CEO of Skyrove, Ellie Hagopian, explained that the firm will be working with the community of Camps Bay to ensure the free Wi-Fi service is valuable to consumers.

“Wi-Fi is not just something you use to get on the internet, it is a communications medium that bridges the gap between smartphones, software and location,” she said. “Installing a carrier-grade Wi-Fi network is one thing; it’s what you can do with the network that adds the value and the telecommunications companies that will be successful in 2014 and beyond understand this.”

There are plans to extend the network further and Skyrove will be looking to provide additional services to businesses, such as predictive analytics.
