Next Generation Wireless (5G and Unlicensed)
New Wireless Technologies Trial
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Project information
WBA members acknowledge the importance of Next Generation Wi-Fi Trials heritage in WBA and how they keep helping the industry move forward. Thus, New Wireless Technologies Trial include, as baseline, the assessment of technologies that present a new value proposition and potential business opportunity for WBA members, such as:
- LWA / LWIP
- MulteFire
- LPWA (unlicensed bands)
- CBRS
The focus is to perform end-to-end live testing, depending on equipment availability, following the same approach as previous testing programs in WBA, such as the Next Generation Hotspot trial. For all the above, a plugfest model might be considered.
Outcomes / Target Audience
Testing architecture shall be defined, available as of today or in the future, potentially leading to a phased in testing.
All the trials and testing are aimed to be completed on live end-to-end networks. The results will be shared with participants and the industry.
