The world’s first Wi-Fi enabled kettle will appear in kitchens across the world within a couple of months.

The iKettle, which was made available for pre-order on Tuesday, allows users to boil it from a remote location using their smartphone.

It could potentially spell the end of the annoying task of walking to the kettle and waiting in the kitchen for it to boil.

According to telegraph.co.uk, the iKettle software can be linked with a smartphone’s alarm clock so that it automatically asks if you would like a kettle boiled when you wake up. It can also be set up to ask every time you return home from a trip outside.

There’s also the option to keep the water warm for extended periods of time, so there are no worries about having to rush to the 1.8 litre kettle as soon as it has boiled.

The product retails for £100. It can be set to heat water to optimum temperatures for certain drinks. A report from dailymail.co.uk suggests it could potentially so that a cup of tea is ready as soon as an ad break begins on television.

The first kettles are expected to be delivered in the final week of November 2013.
