PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Trends and Opportunities

Wi-Fi, along with water and power is now considered an essential utility in the residential market. With the growing number of smart home products and systems currently available, Wi-Fi usage is set to grow significantly.

Connected and smart homes are not only about sensors and actuators anymore. More use cases for IoT in Wi-Fi 6 and 6E include security cameras and smart home devices are available to simplify home life, and make it more secure and more convenient.

Business Benefits

Consumers expect and deserve high-performance and comprehensive Wi-Fi networks that enable their Wi-Fi devices to work and learn at home with little to no setup required.

Stability of networks, security, privacy, Wi-Fi sensing, and many more are becoming ‘basic’ requirements for residential Wi-Fi.

This project provides use-cases and re-investigating wireless technologies cost-effectively around Smart & Connected Homes to meet the customer’s growing expectations,  by leveraging the benefits of Wi-Fi 6E and paving the way to Wi-Fi 7, exploring the increasing role of Edge / Cloud Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) in smart home applications.

Expected Deliverables

This project is designed into 2 phases:

Phase 1:

  • Develop a thought-leading and position white paper based on the latest wireless technologies of smart home with real use cases and introduces the Smart Home 2.0 architectures with wireless landscape applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) in smart home applications.

Phase 2:

  • Develop an extended document to look at the future of IoT and Smart Home 2.0 implementations including Proof of Concept(PoC) and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) of new products in the market.
