Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Australia will roll-out a new Wi-Fi service in January next year, reports computerworld.com.au.
The Wi-Fi service is being implemented to help improve the customer experience, as from early next year sports fans will be able to watch high definition (HD) videos on their mobile devices using the Wi-Fi hotspot. So, if they miss an important goal or move, they can watch the replay on their tablet or mobile phone.
In addition, Wi-Fi at the grounds will make ticketing easier, help fans find their way around and even allow customers to order food and drink without leaving their seat, reports sydneyswan.com.au.
SCG Trust chief executive Jamie Barkley said the service aims to make customers feel like they are at home in their living rooms.
“Sports and entertainment venues the world over are having to compete with the at-home experience,” he said. “Our network is about creating the living room experience live at the SCG, and with full technology services available in the palm of your hand.”
The $197 million Wi-Fi service isn’t just coming to the grounds though, as it will also be rolled out to the Allianz Stadium, Sports Central Plaza and the surrounding areas over the next five years.
