As the Wireless Broadband Alliance continues to implement and execute its groundbreaking Vision 2020 initiative, the organization will continue to put an emphasis on innovation – an absolutely integral part of our ecosystem.

To that end, 2015 has seen the WBA introduce the Accelerator Program, and it has quickly become a significant component of the bi-annual Wi-Fi Global Congress.

In essence, the Accelerator Program gives start-up and scale-up companies (with a clear relevance to the Wi-Fi and unlicensed ecosystem) the opportunity to make a pitch to a panel of seasoned investors and industry specialists. They have five minutes to make their pitch, and five minutes to answer any questions that the audience may have. After the pitches, the audience electronically votes for its favorite pitch, and the winning company receives a special award.

The first Accelerator Program in London was a rousing success (read about it here), and two weeks ago, the second Accelerator Program took place during the Wi-Fi Global Congress in San Jose. Nine different companies made their pitches, and when the dust settled, the audience voted for MOTI as the winner. Presented by founder and CEO Kayla Matheus as a “personable smart object that makes habit formation delightful and rewarding,” MOTI definitely made a lasting impression on the crowd. Hear Kayla talk more about MOTI in the video below.
