As a valued sponsor of WBA’s 2026 Wireless Global Congress events in Tokyo, Dallas and Vienna, we were honored to catch up with AsiaRF and CEO Paul Lai for a mid-2026 catch-up about the year so far for the company; a closer look at their recently-released HaLowFly offering, and more!
Can you please introduce yourself and give an overview of AsiaRF?
My name is Paul Lai, and I am with AsiaRF, a Taiwan-based wireless connectivity company specializing in advanced Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi HaLow, LoRa, AIoT, and embedded wireless solutions.
At AsiaRF, we believe the internet is the source of knowledge, like a spring continuously providing information, innovation, and opportunities to the world. Our mission is to build the wireless infrastructure that helps people and devices stay connected reliably and intelligently.
AsiaRF has over 25 years of experience in wireless communications and focuses on helping customers accelerate product development with high-performance RF modules, routers, gateways, antennas, and ODM/OEM services. Our solutions are widely used in industrial IoT, robotics, smart factories, drones, healthcare, smart agriculture, transportation, and defense-related applications.
In addition to wireless connectivity products, we also develop body worn cameras and public safety infrastructure solutions for security, emergency response, law enforcement, and industrial safety applications.
In recent years, we have been heavily focused on next-generation connectivity technologies, especially Wi-Fi HaLow, Wi-Fi 6, and Wi-Fi 7. We work closely with chipset partners and ecosystem companies to deliver long-range, low-power, and highly reliable wireless solutions for global markets.
How has 2026 been so far for AsiaRF, and how is the second half of the year looking?
2026 has been a very exciting and active year for AsiaRF. We are seeing strong global interest in Wi-Fi HaLow and Edge AI connectivity solutions, especially from industrial automation, robotics, smart city, and security sectors.
One major milestone this year was the launch of our HaLowFly product series, which significantly lowers the barrier for developers and enterprises to adopt Wi-Fi HaLow technology. We also expanded our Wi-Fi 7 product portfolio and strengthened collaborations with ecosystem partners worldwide.
For the second half of 2026, we expect continued growth driven by industrial IoT deployments, smart surveillance, autonomous systems, and AI-connected devices. We are also seeing increased demand from customers looking for NDAA-compliant and long-range wireless communication solutions.
AsiaRF has recently launched a Wi-Fi HaLow dongle. What capabilities does this provide and what impact does this have on industry HaLow deployments now and in the future?
Our Wi-Fi HaLow dongle, called HaLowFly, is designed driver free to make Wi-Fi HaLow technology much easier to evaluate, integrate, and deploy.
Traditionally, adopting a new wireless technology required specialized hardware development, but HaLowFly allows users to quickly enable Wi-Fi HaLow connectivity through USB interfaces on Linux devices, embedded systems, Android, iOS, industrial PCs with Windows or MAC system, and AI edge platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson.
The key capabilities include:
- Long-range communication compared to conventional Wi-Fi
- Better wall and obstacle penetration
- Lower power consumption
- Stable connectivity in congested environments
- Support for large-scale IoT deployments
We believe products like HaLowFly are important because they accelerate ecosystem adoption. Developers can now test real-world applications much faster, reducing development time and encouraging broader commercial deployment of Wi-Fi HaLow solutions across industries.
Can you share any real deployment examples where HaLowFly enabled connectivity that conventional Wi-Fi could not?
Yes, we have seen several scenarios where Wi-Fi HaLow provided clear advantages over conventional Wi-Fi technologies.
One example involved industrial and warehouse environments where standard 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi struggled to maintain stable connectivity across long distances and through multiple concrete walls or metal structures. Using Wi-Fi HaLow, customers achieved reliable communication without requiring as many access points or repeaters.
Another example is in outdoor smart agriculture and smart city applications, where sensors and cameras needed connectivity across large open areas with lower power consumption. Wi-Fi HaLow allowed stable transmission at distances that traditional Wi-Fi could not practically support.
We are also seeing strong interest in robotics, AMR/AGV systems, and AI cameras, where maintaining stable long-range communication is critical for operational safety and reliability.
Beyond Wi-Fi HaLow, what other offerings does AsiaRF provide?
Beyond Wi-Fi HaLow, AsiaRF provides a broad range of wireless connectivity solutions, including:
- Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6, and Wi-Fi 7 AP modules
- Embedded wireless modules for AI PCs and edge AI systems
- Industrial wireless routers and gateways
- High-performance RF antennas
- Customized ODM/OEM wireless product development
- Body worn cameras and public safety infrastructure systems
Our products support many advanced applications including robotics, drones, AI surveillance, smart manufacturing, edge computing, transportation, public safety, and defense-related systems.
We continue to focus on enabling reliable wireless connectivity for next-generation intelligent devices and industrial digital transformation while helping build safer and smarter connected environments.
