PROJECT DESCRIPTION

TRENDS AND OPPORTUNITIES

The WBA has undergone a transformation, shifting from document management to the operation of systems facilitating Wi-Fi adoption. Current services include the issuance of certificates to WBA members, support for Agent API, and WBAID assignment for registration authority services.

The OpenRoaming portal already serves as a comprehensive destination for providers to gather information related to OpenRoaming, indicating a proactive approach to supporting and advancing this emerging connectivity standard.

BUSINESS BENEFITS

Key developments include the creation of Dockerized containers for simplified deployment of OpenRoaming proxies and the provision of a test IDP service for OpenRoaming credential provisioning.

Proof of concepts for real-time monitoring of OpenRoaming IDPs and scripts for TLS compliance testing have been successfully implemented.

Prototyped test applications facilitate the verification of RADIUS accounting from ANPs using a test IDP service. Discussions on enhancing crowdsourced application information for recording RCOIs are underway.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES

  • Collaborate with WBA stakeholders for feedback on current tools and proof of concepts
  • Contribute to defining the future roadmap for WBA tools
  • Establish a process for maintaining Revision/Change History on all tools, detailing functionality and bug fixes in each version
  • Evaluate the need for notifications to users relying on these tools in specific cases
  • Create a community to support ongoing tool development and availability on OpenRoaming portal
