WBA Manifesto

The WBA is passionate about Wi-Fi. About making Wi-Fi ubiquitous. We are here to bring leadership and guidance to ensure a great Wi-Fi experience for everyone by:

Delivering maximum commercial benefit from Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi may be twenty years old, but its best days are ahead. We are here to help organizations gain the maximum commercial benefit from Wi-Fi by improving the economics of operating networks and enabling new revenue-generating services. No matter what sector they operate within.

Creating interoperability between wireless technologies

As fun as it might be to pit one wireless technology against another, it is commercially short-sighted. Network providers – and everyone else – benefit when they can use the appropriate blend of network technologies to deliver the right service in the right place at the right price. We are working to ensure that the technologies can coexist and converge to deliver the best results for everyone.

Guiding the next generation of Wi-Fi applications

Wi-Fi is a key part of the 4th industrial revolution, helping organizations to digitalize and transform. From connected vehicles and in-flight connectivity to super-fast, low latency Wi-Fi, IoT and smart homes and cities, there are many innovative emerging applications for Wi-Fi. Our role is to bring together the ecosystem to develop next-generation applications, services and building a sustainable business model for Wi-Fi.

Delivering an automatic and secure Wi-Fi experience, at home, work & on the go

When you reach a Wi-Fi hotspot, you need to open network settings, guess the right Wi-Fi provider, ask for a password or create a new account before you can log in. No-one enjoys that experience. We are working to put an end to all of that with an automatic and easy connection to Wi-Fi.

Advising and influencing governments and regulators

The WBA is the voice of the Wi-Fi industry, guiding governments, policy makers and regulators and advocating for positive change and championing seamless, secure, interoperable Wi-Fi.

Enabling safe and
secure Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is already getting a security upgrade, making hacking even tougher for bad actors. As we continue to push for a best-in-class Wi-Fi experience, we will help organizations to deliver the safest possible Wi-Fi installations with user privacy assured.

Using Wi-Fi to bridge the digital divide

Wi-Fi is the most ubiquitous wireless technology in human history. It is already an enabler for business, education and communication – but it can do so much more. From our position at the center of the Wi-Fi ecosystem, we advocate to deliver the greater good and to help bridge the digital divide.

Promoting sustainable Wi-Fi

In homes, businesses and on devices, lower-energy Wi-Fi installations can make a dent in our collective power consumption and environmental impact. Together with our members we will continue to deliver better Wi-Fi with a lower carbon footprint.
