Upgraded Neutral Host Network Will Enhance Fan Experience at Home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz
LOS ANGELES and SALT LAKE CITY – April 14, 2014 – Boingo Wireless (NASDAQ: WIFI), the leading DAS and Wi-Fi provider that serves consumers, carriers and advertisers worldwide, today announced that the company has been selected as exclusive neutral host Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and small cell provider for EnergySolutions Arena, home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz basketball team and more than 100 sports and entertainment events each year.
Per the multi-year agreement with Miller Sports Properties, Boingo will upgrade and manage a multi-carrier, neutral host DAS system at the arena, which seats nearly 20,000 fans. Boingo’s approach to neutral host DAS maximizes carrier participation, and provides robust coverage and capacity to support fans’ connected game day and event experiences. The enhanced neutral host DAS network is slated to launch before the next Utah Jazz basketball season, in fall 2014.
“At Miller Sports Properties, we pride ourselves on providing the best experiences for fans, and we’ve made significant investments in digital services in 2014,” said Jamie Galileo, vice president of facilities services at EnergySolutions Arena. “We know our guests want to stay connected, and the launch of the enhanced DAS network will provide even faster service throughout the arena. With their extensive experience in deploying and managing cellular networks at major league and collegiate sports venues, we know Boingo will deliver the world-class connectivity our fans deserve.”
“Our agreement for EnergySolutions Arena services marks new milestones for Boingo: a neutral host DAS agreement for one of the NBA’s largest arenas, and the start of a long-term partnership with Miller Sports Properties, a venue management leader,” said Doug Lodder, Boingo Wireless vice president of business development. “We look forward to deploying a network for EnergySolutions Arena and our carrier partners that not only meets today’s connectivity needs, but provides added capacity for projected data usage increases in the years to come.”
The cellular agreement also gives Boingo exclusive management rights for future capacity-enhancing small cell technology deployments.
Boingo is a leading provider of small cell networks at large universities, major league stadiums and airports, including Chicago’s Soldier Field, University of Arizona’s Arizona Stadium, the Air Force Academy’s Falcon Stadium, Pinnacle Bank Arena, home of the University of Nebraska’s Huskers basketball team, and more than 75 airports across the globe.
