Passengers flying across North America on certain Air Canada aircrafts will soon be able to access their email and browse the internet on their flight, as it’s extending its Wi-Fi service.

According to techtimes.com, Gogo will provide the service for Air Canada and the installations will begin in May. The airline hopes to equip a minimum of 29 aircrafts this year. By December 2015, around 130 narrow-body planes will be fitted with Wi-Fi access points.

At the moment, only two of Air Canada’s Airbus 319 planes have in-flight Wi-Fi, but the A319, A320 and A321 will have air-to-ground connectivity soon too, reports traveldailynews.com.

Benjamin Smith, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, says the Wi-Fi option just adds to Air Canada’s award-winning service.

“Air Canada continually seeks to enhance the travel experience and that is why we are pleased to be the first airline in Canada to offer in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity to customers flying over continental North America,” he said.

“In today’s connected world, our customers want to access email, mobile devices applications ad the internet wherever they are, both to increase their work productivity and expand their leisure options.”

The service will not be free, however a price structure remains to be announced.
