The length of time air passengers can use the free Wi-Fi service at Frankfurt Airport has been extended from just 60 minutes to 24 hours.
Now, travellers passing through the airport heading on a summer holiday will be able to get online for free without having to worry about the restriction. More than 300 Wi-Fi hotspots are located in the airport’s terminals, most of them in the departure areas, reports eturbonews.com.
Travellers who are stopping over at the airport and therefore need more than 24 hours worth of Wi-Fi can easily extend it after the first day is up. To connect, they need to log on via Deutsche Telekom’s internet portal and complete a simple sign-up process.
Fraport AG, which operates the airport, started the free Wi-Fi scheme as part of its ‘Great to Have You Here!’ programme, which was launched to provide customer service enhancements and boost the airport’s appeal, reports airport-world.com.
Peter Schmitz, Fraport AG’s executive board member for operations (COO), says the modern world is becoming increasingly mobile, so the facility is working to fulfil people’s changing needs.
“Fraport is pleased to enhance the travel experience for our passengers again by expanding free Wi-Fi service at Frankfurt Airport from 60 minutes to 24 hours,” he stated.
“We are the first major airport in Germany and one of the first in Europe to offer passengers this level of free Wi-Fi service round-the-clock.”
