• Paris will have Wireless internet in 46 high traffic stations, buses and RER (local train) like for example in Orsay, La Gare du Nord or La Defense and will progressively incorporate the whole network.

Madrid, 26th of June 2012-. GOWEX (GOW-MAB, ALGOW-NYSE Euronext), leader company in the creation of sustainable Wireless Smart cities, will provide Free WiFi to the Parisian citizens in 48 stations and outdoor areas near the city. With this initiative, the company makes a step forward in the objective of transforming the French capital into a Wireless Smart City, with connection at any place, after the this first transportation incursion.

Free WiFi service in 46 transport stations of Paris
From today onwards, citizens and tourist can connect for free in 46 stations of public transport and will have WiFi access in 66 inside and outdoor smartzones located in the entrance and exits of Metro stations, buses and local trains (where there will also have connection in some platforms) and public spaces as squares and near.

The 4.5 million passengers that use at a daily use the Paris underground, can now access with their mobile devices to internet for free in the tourist stations like Thebus station ofThefinance arear the station of. These are the first stations where Parisians and tourist enjoy of wireless internet services, which progressively will be incorporated to the whole network which now has 14 lanes, 245 stations, and its one with a bigger user volume of Europe with more than 1.5000 million passengers a year.

The free WiFi service was presented today officially to media in the Hôtel Concorde Opera de Paris at 9:00am. The act has been chaired by Jenaro García, CEO de GOWEX and Karim Bouchfanj, GOWEX Country Manager for France, and afterwards an in situ demo took place at the trains’ station of Auber, place between the Opera Square and the street of Le Havre.

For GOWEX, city and intercity transportation is a main part of the Wireless Smart Cities, and Because of that we prioritize a rapid growth in these projects, and in less than 2 years we already have a total of 16 agreements in the world, points out Jenaro García Martín CEO of GOWEX.

Bordeaux, first WiFi city of GOWEX in France
We like to remark that this is the second Project of GOWEX in French land in less than a year, and starting from the 23rd of March 2012, it’s already working the Bordeaux WiFi network with the agreement between GOWEX and Bordeaux city council to bring Free WiFi to their streets, parks and public buildings.

With the same user and password a user will be able to connect in all of the networks of GOWEX in streets, transportation and coffee shops in all over the world: Bordeaux, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Seville, Malaga, etc up to a total of 60 cities.

Wireless Smart Transport
This Project is inside the strategy of promoting the GOWEX strategy of recurrent incomes through the business models of the Wireless Smart Transport. The income estimation of turnover that will come from this agreement reached in 2012 it’s calculated to be near a million and a half euro, and most of them will be recurrent incomes.

During the last years, GOWEX has driven important projects as: WiFi in public buses of Madrid with the “Empresa Municipal de Transportes” (first worldwide Project in supplying WiFi in a whole bus fleet) which is used by over a half a million unique users a month; the Subte (underground) and Metrobus of Buenos Aires, or the agreement with CRSCS (second TIC engineering of train transportation for communications in China) for giving WiFi service in the high speed trains of the country. The first project in development is the connection Beijing-Shanghai.

How to connect to the network “GOWEX Free WiFi”
To start to surf, the passengers of the Paris metro will only have to detect the network ““GOWEX Free WiFi” with their mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, PDA) and will access to a landing or validation webpage where registration is obligatory. Once registered the user name and the password will arrive by email or via sms, and ca start to navigate 24 hours a day with a speed of 1Mbps.

To ensure a speed up navigation, the users can user the GOWEX mobile application GOWEX WiFi Free, available in Android smartphones, and will permit to auto connect, locate close free hotspots, check the news of resolve any doubt with the helpdesk (phone, email or Twitter).
