Exclusive for WBA Members

The IEEE 802.11me defined new Access Network Query Protocol (ANQP) elements that can play an important part in furthering the adoption of Passpoint® and WBA OpenRoaming™

The new ANQP elements have been proposed in light of the granularity that was already available throughout the OpenRoaming RCOI Policy.

Serving as a reference, the OpenRoaming Roaming Consortium OI (RCOI) policy has been structured to allow granular context of a given identity, such as having identities that are specific to certain verticals and industries. The RCOI structure indicates other categories such as the quality of service expected, the privacy of the identity, etc.

This whitepaper serves as an industry guidelines with illustration of specific variations between a federated application (OpenRoaming) and a single deployment application (regular Passpoint). It details the OpenRoaming RCOI Policy Technical Specification Release 2, 802.11me ‘Excluded NAI Realm’ ANQP element, 802.11me ‘SLA’ ANQP Element and 802.11me ‘Credentials Types’ ANQP Element with recommendations for both OpenRoaming Networks and Non-OpenRoaming Networks.
