Mobile internet browsing could soon become much quicker – at least for Apple users – as the new iPhone 6 will be able to achieve speeds at least three times faster than the current model.
The state-of-the-art model, which has just been announced by Apple, will include 802.11ac Wi-Fi. This means it can reach speeds of 433 Mbps, a specification that will come in handy for another of the iPhone 6’s new features – Wi-Fi calling. Soon, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus owners will be able to make calls over the internet, even when they are too far away from a telephone mast and have no signal.
This feature is a first for the iPhone, despite the fact a number of Android devices have been able to make internet calls for some time. However, it will only be available to devices on telecom networks that support Wi-Fi calling, such as T-Mobile, reports businessinsider.com. Other popular American telecom providers, such as AT&T and Verizon, have not yet announced whether they will support the feature or not.
The iPhone 6 itself will also run faster than previous models. In fact, it will be 50 times faster than the original iPhone. Moreover, graphics processing as been upped to become 84 times faster, reports fansidedcom.
Both versions of the iPhone 6 will be released in the UK and US on September 19.
