Wi-Fi technology pioneer Ruckus Wireless, Inc. has been named a global market leader in the provision of enterprise-class and mesh wireless access points for service providers.

New figures show wireless equipment made by Ruckus accounting for a sizeable 35.8 per cent of all units shipped in this category.

This enabled the company to achieve a 25 per cent share of the same market relative to manufacturing revenue – higher than any of its competitors.

The figures come courtesy of the latest Wireless LAN (WLAN) Report from Dell’Oro, cited by whattech.com, which show demand for indoor and outdoor carrier-grade Wi-Fi solutions aiding companies across the market.

Worldwide market revenues for wireless LAN solutions over the course of Q4 2013 rose to $2.2 billion (£1.3 billion), signalling a nine per cent lift in earnings since the same period in 2013.

Zycko.com says this enabled full year WLAN revenues to grow by 13 per cent year on year and hit $8.5 billion (£5.1 billion).

Ruckus proved to be one of the main beneficiaries of a rise in Wi-Fi spend over Q4 – its enterprise customer base doubling in size since 2012 to hit 140 clients.

These business customers formed part of the 3,100 new customers that Ruckus welcomed over Q4, bringing its total customer base up to 33,000.
