Most of General Motor’s (GM) 2015 models sold in the US will come with a new 4G Wi-Fi service, reports detroitnews.com.

The 2015 Chevrolet Malibu will be GM’s first car to offer its new OnStar 4G LTE mobile internet service, which is provided by AT&T. More 2015 vehicles will be added to the roster by the end of the year, including GMCs, Cadillacs and Buicks.

Customers will be able to try the service before they pay for it too, as GM is offering a free trial. This trial will last for three months, or until three gigabytes of internet is used. After that period, drivers will have to pay for the service. Casual users can fork out five dollars a day to get 200 megabytes of downloads, which is only enough to watch a few short videos.

More frequent users, who perhaps have to ferry their kids or friends around a lot, can pay $50 a month to bag themselves five gigabytes worth of monthly downloads, reports wsj.com. According to AT&T’s data calculator, that’s enough data to browse the internet for 333 hours or stream 41 hours of video.

Mary Chan, OnStar president, says that the data plans are easy to understand and people can tailor their experience as they wish.

“OnStar with 4G LTE is embedded into the vehicle, meaning customers get simple connectivity for not only a Wi-Fi hotspot, but also improved access to traditional OnStar services like vehicle diagnostics, remote vehicle access and others,” she explains.
