Some 48,000 Manchester City fans are now able to connect to the internet at Etihad Stadium in the UK, thanks to a new Wi-Fi service.

According to yahoo.com, this means Manchester City is the first Premier League Club to offer its fans free internet access at its stadium. The service has already been tested to ensure every one of the attendees will be able to connect to the internet at the same time.

Diego Gigliani, director of marketing for media and fan development at the club, says the high-speed Wi-Fi is a step in the right direction for Manchester City, as its goal is to become the most technologically advanced football club in the world.

“Mobile technology and social media in particular, play a key role in our fans’ match-day experiences,” he states. “It was therefore important for us to embrace this growing trend and enable our fans to share their passion for the club with fellow City supporters around the world, in real time, free of charge, all from the comfort of their seat.”

Fans using the service will be able to enjoy download speeds of up to 30MB. YouTube and Facebook already see a large amount of their content posted from within football stadiums, reports dailymail.co.uk
