Wi-Fi is growing worldwide as an important offload strategy for mobile operators.  This is evident with the recent announcement by Aptilo Networks that two of Taiwan’s top three  tier-1 mobile operators deployed Aptilo’s Wi-Fi service to offload their 3G networks and new research from analyst firm, Ovum.

Over halfway through 2012 and Wi-Fi remains a hot topic in the media with many thought-leaders in the industry citing this technology as an essential tool for mobile data offload.

Mobile World Congress 2013 has more than a new location to look forward to; for the first time, the WBA will be exhibiting at the event with a significant presence in Hall 8.1.

We are busy planning for a busy WBA agenda in 2013. Keep an eye on our hosted events page for updates.

WBA will hold its Q3 2012 working session in Dublin, Ireland, next week. WBA Working Sessions allow members to come together in Project Groups and continue their efforts on specific WBA Programs & Projects.

Social Media has become a global communications channel for cultures as well as companies. Last year the WBA began a social media Program with our Marketing Ambassadors to promote WBA initiatives, events and the Wi-Fi Industry Report to great success.

Last November our first annual Wi-Fi Industry Survey and Report, in partnership with Informa, met with very positive industry response and report downloads of over 4000!

WBA is expanding rapidly as we approach our San Francisco Wif-Fi Global Congress in November.  We are very pleased to welcome our newest members into the Worldwide Broadband Alliance family: Cox Communications Hutchinson Global Communications NTT Broadband Platform Sysnet Integrators

As we start work on our San Francisco WiFi Global Congress, which is expected to be the biggest yet, we thought it would be the right time to launch the WBA Wi-Fi Industry Awards, another first for the WBA.
